Eat your in-season fruits and vegetables with brEAThe Kitchen

Our meal routines naturally transition in summer, but with our changing climate, we should also keep in mind fruits and vegetables that are in season and available in our area. Fruits and vegetables are a great way to stay hydrated in the heat and get your carbohydrate intake.

Supporting your local farmer’s market ensures you support local farms and that the produce hasn’t travelled from afar. brEAThe Kitchen uses produce grown by local farms and locally-made products whenever possible. You can usually taste the difference compared to imported produce!

The great thing about fruits is they’re so easy to find and all you need to do is rinse and consume; perfect for a day on the beach or a picnic with friends. Vegetables are great raw at this time of year too, and you can make or buy great condiments like hummus or plant-based ranch dip.

If you live in BC, here’s what’s growing this summer. (Note that some grow year-round.)
